La Vista: Where small town meets the big city

Welcome to Nebraska’s youngest and fastest-growing city. La Vista also happens to be the second city in Sarpy County to be named for its remarkable setting, adopting the Spanish translation for “the view.”

Take one look around and you’ll immediately see that La Vista is a thriving, forward-thinking place. A close-knit community with big-city conveniences, La Vista offers a rich diversity of restaurants, retail stores, and specialty shops along the main streets and nestled within quaint neighborhoods.

Outdoor enthusiasts are drawn to the city’s miles of walking trails surrounded by lush landscaping and mature oak and maple trees. Twelve city parks offer prime real estate for picnicking, playing Frisbee, and just plain getting away from it all.

In April and October, La Vista plays host to a biannual kite festival. Kite flyers from all over the world flock to these two-day events, flooding the broad Nebraska skies with color, shape, and spirit.

Every June, the town celebrates La Vista Days in Central Park with contests, music, a parade, and a carnival. Visitors and citizens alike are looking forward to the completion of the new Cabela’s and a new conference center.
